Follow the steps of Jean-Michel Basquiat, graffiti innovator and noise music artist, through 1980’s Lower Manhattan in Edo Bertoglio’s cult classic film. Shot in 1980-81 but only released in 2000, the film features cameos by Debbie Harry and Fab Five Freddy plus musical performances by DNA, James White and the Blacks, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, and more. Introduction by Sean Corcoran, curator of our hit exhibition New York, New Music: 1980-1986 (closing Sept. 18).
