Back by popular demand, the Schomburg Center is proud to present our fourth annual First\u00a0Fridays: Labor Day\u00a0 “Carnival” Edition, Celebrating 70+ years of Caribbean Culture and History with the West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA).<\/p>\n

A crowd favorite and authentic celebration of the people of African descent in the Caribbean, First Fridays: Labor Day “Carnival” Edition\u00a0returns with steel pan drummers, moko jumbie, mass camp, and a curated selection of vendors ready to celebrate the culture and special traditions of the West Indies.\u00a0\u00a0Liz The Intl Diva, our host for the night, along with DJ Hard Hittin Harry and DJ JP, and live\u00a0performers will be there to bring down the house in this community celebration of Carnival.\u00a0Come dressed and ready with flags to proudly represent your country!<\/p>\n

First\u00a0Fridays guests are invited to check out our pop-up display, \u201cCaribbean History,\u201d featuring items from the Schomburg Center collections, sign up for a\u00a0Schomburg Society membership, and visit the Schomburg Shop\u2014while networking and dancing the night away!\u00a0With our extended hours,\u00a0guests are also invited to check out\u00a0our exhibitions\u00a0A\u00a0Ballad For Harlem\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0\u00a0Femmetography: The Gaze Shifted<\/em>.<\/p>\n
