NYBG’s Mother’s Day Weekend Garden Party

by

The New York Botanical Garden’s Mother’s Day Weekend Garden Party Offers a One-of-a-Kind Celebration with Live Music, Bronx Cuisine, Fun Activities, and More. The spectacular spring landscape of The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) is the setting for live music, lawn games, arts and crafts, picnicking, and more.

  • Food, Games, Arts and Crafts, and More
Daffodil Hill, Clay Family Picnic Pavilions, and Lilac Collection
An array of dishes will be offered by ecofriendly local food purveyors presented by Bronx Night Market on Daffodil Hill, where visitors can also have a go at garden-party games and activities like cornhole, hula hoops, and ladder toss. Demonstrations at the Clay Family Picnic Pavilions will show how to create botanically inspired cards for Mom and craft a paper floral bouquet. Activities include face painting and, at the Burn Family Lilac Collection, family yoga.

  •  Family Entertainment
Daffodil Hill and the Edible Academy Amphitheater
Daffodil Hill is the settting for a DJ dance party by Uptown Vinyl Supreme (11 a.m.–2 p.m.) and sizzling salsa performed by Bronx native Johnny Mambo and his band (2–5 p.m). At the Edible Academy Amphitheater, the Bronx Arts Ensemble and Lehman Stages present the play Gwendolyn Unplugged, featuring puppets as a young girl daydreams about her future (12:30 and 2:30 p.m.).

  • Explore NYBG’s Seasonal Collections with Guided Tours
11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.; all tours meet at the Reflecting Pool in the Leon Levy Visitor Center
Guided tours give visitors a fresh perspective on NYBG’s Azalea Garden and the wildflowers and budding trees of the Thain Family Forest. A tour at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday will focus on trees native to Asia, including Japanese maples and Tanyosho pines.
