SPIRITED MEXICO EVENT
Explore Jalisco’s culinary tradition of birria — a roasted goat dish — with Chef Jonathan Zaragoza of Birrieria Zaragoza. At the age of 12, in the backyard of his home, Zaragoza began learning to make his families’ traditional birria in a wood-burning oven built by his grandfather and father. Through this session, he’ll be sharing that tradition for you to enjoy at home.
SOUNDS OF JALISCO WITH MARIACHI SIRENAS
Join us for a discussion and performance centered on mariachi — a quintessential music form rooted back to Jalisco. We’ll learn more about the historical rise of this indigenous sound and tune into a special performance from Mariachi Sirenas — a contemporary all-female mariachi band based in Chicago.
