PROTOTYPE: Out of Bounds
Visit Brookfield Place on January 9 to see a performance by Amirtha Kidambi, inspired by Nina Simone’s performance at the Harlem Cultural Festival in 1969, as part of PROTOTYPE: Out of Bounds.
PROTOTYPE: Out of Bounds is a series of short, free performances of new works in public spaces. Out of Bounds ’17 features three emerging female composer/performers responding to the voices of female musicians from the radical punk music landscape of 1970s New York City.
Each performance was recorded in late December in front of the sites of former iconic NY music venues: Max’s Kansas City, CBGB’s, and Mount Morris Park, site of the Harlem Cultural Festival. These videos will then be displayed in the lobby of HERE Arts Center throughout the duration of the festival along with a public performance at select locations. Public performances will also be live streamed via Facebook live and projected in the HERE Arts Center lobby in real time.
