Spectacular Spring Weekends at NYBG

The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG). Spectacular Spring Weekends in April and May celebrate the breathtaking beauty of all the Botanical Garden’s seasonal attractions in the outdoor gardens and living collections of its 250-acre landscape, a National Historic Landmark.

Springtime highlights include a monthlong commemoration of Earth Day and an ample assortment of programming during themed weekends in our daffodil and lilac collections, for Mother’s Day, and during Spring Uncorked—NYBG’s annual pairing of wine and the beauty of spring. Spectacular Spring Weekends include tours, music, gardening and craft workshops, and other fun activities for all ages.

Earth Day Weekend

Earth Month culminates with a lecture, an open house, tours, demonstrations, and more on Earth Day Weekend, the annual global event to support environmental protection.

Daffodil Weekend

Saturday & Sunday, April 29 & 30, 2023; 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

Watch demonstrations, listen to music, and participate in fun arts and crafts inspired by the vibrant blooms. Each year, the Garden springs to life with hundreds of thousands of daffodils. Find new favorites among the latest hybrids on Daylily/Daffodil Walk, and don’t miss Daffodil Hill when it’s a sea of yellow and white, including many antique cultivars planted in the early 20th century. Explore the Rock Garden for tiny species daffodils no more than three inches high, and find drifts of glowing color nearby in Daffodil Valley, where the Murray Liasson Narcissus Collection is located.

Mother’s Day Weekend Garden Party

Treat mom to a one-of-a-kind Garden party all weekend with arts and crafts, live music, food, and lawn games at the most spectacular spring landscape New York City has to offer.

    Celebrate the weekend with DJ Dance Party featuring Bronx-based DJ collective Uptown Vinyl Supreme, a Bronx-based DJ collective and community organization paying homage to the analogue roots of music, party, and dance culture.

    Enjoy an assortment of family-friendly games—from Cornhole and Ladder Toss to Hoola Hoops.
  • Crafting with Mom
    Saturday & Sunday, May 13 & 14, 2023; 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
    At the Clay Family Picnic Pavilions
    Join NYBG volunteers for follow-along demonstrations. Draw and color a card for Mom using a template of botanical illustrations from the Garden’s archives. Join Materials for the Arts to use recycled materials to create a one-of-a-kind gift. Follow along to create a decorative paper magnolia designed by Charles Zimmerman, a self-taught artist and plant lover who has been crafting paper flowers inspired by years of experience archiving botanical specimens in The New York Botanical Garden’s Steere Herbarium
