Women In Food: Beyond The Home Kitchen

The competitive world of restaurant cheffing has long been considered something of a “boys club”. But today’s kitchen is a far cry from male dominated. From dining rooms, to food media, to homegrown businesses — women are stepping into the spotlight and gaining some well-deserved attention.
In this installment of Talk&Taste: Evenings at Essex Street Market, we’ll hear from four female food entrepreneurs who have taken their ideas and passions, and turned them into successful careers.
Our panel discussion will be Caroline Shin, founder of the acclaimed web series Cooking With Granny. Our panelists will include DeDe Lahman, Co-Owner of the beloved Clinton Street Baking Company; Claudia Wu, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Cherry Bombe magazine; and Shalini Singh, Founder and Instructor at Shalini’s Kitchen.
