Satchmo in the Studio

Celebrate International Jazz Day 2018 with Museum Of The City Of New York. The Louis Armstrong House Museum and the Museum of the City of New York are teaming up for the first public screening of the only known film of Louis Armstrong in the studio, recording his 1959 album, Satchmo Plays King Oliver. The acquisition of the film made headlines in 2015 but it has never been shown publicly until now. Armstrong scholar Ricky Riccardi will provide commentary on the film before a special live performance by David Ostwald’s Louis Armstrong Eternity Band.
