NYBG’s Giant Pumpkin Weekend
On October 23rd and 24, 2021, three of the biggest pumpkins in the Northeastern United States will be on display on the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory Plaza through October 31. Giant Pumpkin Weekend is beginning on Giant Pumpkin Weekend at NYBG part of NYBG’s Scarecrows & Pumpkins program that runs through Halloween and features whimsical pumpkin-headed scarecrows throughout the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden, larger-than-life pumpkin and skeleton Puppets on Parade, and pumpkin carving demonstrations.
Marvel at some of the largest pumpkins in the world, grown from seed by dedicated growers and brought to The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG). The Giant Pumpkins are brought to NYBG in collaboration with the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth, the recognized standard of weights, measurement, and fairness of competitive growing. The three prize winning pumpkins that will be on display at NYBG are:
- 2,365-pound pumpkin grown by Andy Wolf of Little Valley, New York
- 2,201-pound pumpkin grown by Ron Wallace of Greene, Rhode Island
- 2,092-pound pumpkin grown by Alex Noel of Abington Pomfret, Connecticut
