BRIC, is well known for it’s longevity, arts, history, music and celebration of all cultures, helping our city celebrate the diversity in which we live in today. BRIC is essentially the number one presenters of free cultural programming in Brooklyn. This year marks their 41st season of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival at the Prospect Park Bandshell. Bric President Kristina Newman-Scottand, Council Majority Leader Laurie Cumbo, First Lady Chirlane McCray, Park Slope Councilman Brad Lander, gave the crowd an opening introduction on what to expect for this years BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival Season. BRIC’s 41st Summer Season Opening Night was breathtaking.

 

This season kicked off with the legendary two time Grammy Award winner, Patti Labelle, one of the original divas of the music world. Hall of Fame inductee, r&b, gospel, disco and pop singer. Patti Labelle danced her way on to the stage and the crowd went ecstatic as she yelled “Hello Brooklyn”. LaBelle, was celebrating her 75th birthday with the entire crowd. Fans honored her with flowers and lots of love while singing a wide range of her greatest hit songs.

 

 

She danced the entire evening singing “Lady Marmalade,” “On My Own” and “If you don’t know me by now.” Great way to start off the season! BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival will have a whole season of free musical performances, films screenings, dance shows and concerts running until mid August.
